ForeStClim participates in "Europa vor Ort"

The ForeStClim project has been chosen as the one project from Rhineland-Palatinate to participate in the "Europa vor Ort" event series.

"Europa vor Ort" translates into "Europe on the Ground", and is an initiative by the German Federal Government, the European Commission and the European Parliament.

In 2010, "Europa vor Ort" organises more than 20 events all over Germany, introducing a variety of EU project to the general public. The aim is to bring interested citizens in contact with EU project in their surrounding, and make them aware of the multiple benefits which they provide for the region they are living in.

In case of ForeStClim, the "Europa vor Ort" delegation will be in Trippstadt on Thursday, 27 March from about 14:00 to 18:00 hours. Approximately 50 citizens from the surrounding area will be invited to join the event.

The schedule foresees a visit to the ForeStClim test site Merzalben with on-site presentations and explanations of the on-going forest ecological measurements. This will be followed by a panel discussion in the Trippstadt castle, attended by local, state, and European politicians. Kurt Lechner (CDU) and Jürgen Creutzmann (FDP), Members of the European Parliament, have confirmed their participation in the event.
